PERIMETER PROTECTION SYSTEM
SENSORPROOF is a fibre-optic perimeter protection system designed to prevent intrusions into sensitive infrastructures. It is a taut wire system.
SENSORPROOF is modular and allows outstanding flexibility of use. It can be installed to protect very small areas (such as pipeline valves) or very long perimeters (such as airports).
By using of a fibre-optic sensor, SENSORPROOF avoids false alarms.
SENSORPROOF is not affected by hail, thunderstorms, fog, sun, rain, strong wind, magnetic or electric fields, radio frequencies and interference or, importantly, by vibrations of any type and frequency.
Birds perching on the taut wires do not cause false alarms.
Avoiding false alarms is the real strength of SENSORPROOF compared to other security systems.
In addition to being a cost for investors, false alarms are a major issue for security personnel who need to assess whether to intervene or not to foil a breach into the protected area. A system that continually triggers false alarms is not reliable.
Using very-low-power, battery-operated MICMAR MIKE processors (the batteries last for five years) means that SENSORPROOF can be installed fast and
is cost-effective in terms of man-hours and material. Laying a network of wires to power the equipment or to send alarm signals is not necessary. This means that no construction work is needed for excavating trenches, access chambers or cable ducts.
Unlike the perimeter systems made by our competitors, the initial activation cost of SENSORPROOF is zero. Our MICMAR MIKE card with dedicated software – which is the real brain of the system – automatically calibrates the optical attenuation in the plant.
The alarms from the MIKE processors are transmitted to the interface card connected to the alarm control centre (graphic maps can be implemented). Alarms, including low battery warnings, are managed in zones. An alarm will be triggered in the event of an attempt to sabotage the batteries. SENSORPROOF can be connected to a video surveillance system.
Alarms can be sent to a control centre located even hundreds of kilometres away.
The perimeter protection along the fence is provided with systems designed to prevent breaking through or climbing over it. The number of taut optical fibres and their mutual pitch is determined according to the degree of security to be achieved and the type of existing barrier (loose mesh, wall, grid, for instance).
Alarms are triggered in the MICMAR system in case of cutting or mechanical stress on the taut wires during a breach detected by the MICMAR SENSOR UNITS.
The alarm is caused by stretching the taut wires or by attempts to climb onto the wires, place a ladder on them, climb over the fence or tamper with the sensor unit.
The poles and/or brackets supporting the system are made of aluminium and designed by MICMAR to contain the sensor unit.
